We’ll start with the cover letter header!
Dear Mrs. Carroll,
Children are our future, but it is imperative that children recieve the right wisdom, guidance and instruction to prepare them for the future. As an educator of eleven years, I have had the privilege of educating thousands of children throughout Dublin and Cork, beaming with pride each time I watch students graduate or find success in their professions. Although children are undeniably our future, it is our responsibility to ensure that they are successful. As an educator, I am thrilled to apply for a teaching role with St. Patrick National School.
As a teacher, I believe it is important to create meaningful, inclusive lesson plans that encourage curiousity and support students' individual learning goals. Fostering a safe learning environment is a huge priority to me, and I have always strived to help students reach the heights of their academic potential. I graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Education over a decade ago, and since then my passion for education has only grown. I am fully qualified to teach by the Teaching Council of Ireland and keep professionalism at the heart of everything I do.
The power of high-quality education cannot be underestimated. In addition to having strong organisation, communication, interpersonal and creative skills, I also possess a strong command of the technical skills needed for successful remote learning, such as video conferencing and online assignment software.
I would love to discuss this role with you further and I have attached my contact details to discuss this opportunity with you at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your time and consideraton, and I hope to hear from you soon.
Best wishes,
Caolan McGrath
Cover letter header
Cover headers contain your contact information and allow employers to get in touch with you. It’s important that these details are up-to-date and accurate – nobody wants a job offer to go to an email address with a typo in it! You should include your full name, professional title (e.g., Teacher, Professor), phone number, email address and mailing address if applicable or necessary. In the current digital age, most of the time, just an email address will suffice. By providing your contact details, it’s easier for employers to get in touch with you to schedule an interview.
Cover letter greeting
Greetings start your cover letter off on the right foot, so try to begin your cover letter with a professional and personalised greeting. It’s always best to address the recipient directly using their name and appropriate title, for example, "Dear Principal McMahon" or "Dear Hiring Committee." If the job posting does not mention the employer or school by name, try to research the institution or school you're applying to and find the appropriate person to address your cover letter to. A little effort can go a long way!
Dear Mrs. Carroll,
Cover letter introduction
Introductions should capture the attention of the reader and summarise why you’re an ideal candidate for the teaching position you’re applying for. You can open your introduction with a relevant anecdote or achievement, or by describing your passion for education and what inspired you to become a teacher in the first place. Share your passion for teaching and dedication to making a positive impact on students' lives, and don’t be afraid to briefly discuss your background in education, certifications, degrees, and any relevant teaching experience. It’s important to keep this section brief, however: You can elaborate and expand upon details in your body paragraphs.

Cover letter body paragraphs
Time for the main section of your CV! In this section, you want to provide key details about your teaching experience, including any specialisations you’re trained in or any important details employers may need to know about. When writing about teaching and education, it's crucial to infuse enthusiasm into your words. However, it is equally important to support your claims with tangible details and examples. To further enhance your writing, try incorporating numbers, facts, and figures to back up your statements. This approach not only strengthens your arguments but also adds credibility, shows you're impact-driven and reinforces the impact of your message! You may also like to highlight any professional development activities, conferences, or workshops you have attended to enhance your teaching skills if relevant. So far, so good!

Cover letter conclusion
The conclusion is the finale, and your final opportunity to leave a positive impression upon employers. To finish off strong, you’ll want to reaffirm your interest in the teaching position and reiterate your commitment to driving success in the classroom. It’s also important to close your letter with gratitude, thanking the reader for their time and consideration. Conclude your cover letter with a professional closing, such as or "best wishes," or “kind regards,” followed by your full name. Congratulations: you just finished your first CVapp.ie cover letter!
